We're so excited to introduce you to our December Chompian of the month, Chris Nikic! Chris is a Special Olympics athlete who has taken his achievements to a whole new level. On November 7, 2020, Chris became the first person with Down syndrome to complete an ironman triathlon, setting a Guinness World Record. According to an article in Runner's World that Chris was featured in, "an Ironman consists of a 2.4-mile open-water swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run, with no breaks in between - it's a take-no-prisoners test of mental and physical stamina."
Chris was also named a nominee for The Sports Illustrated Awards: Inspiration of the Year - no small accomplishment! His best tip on how to stay positive is to focus on your dream and do everything with a smile. To us, Chris defines a Chompian and a game changer, and we're honored to be highlighting him and his story.
