When it comes to creating our meat sticks at Chomps, we take the utmost care in making sure the sourcing and sustainability practices are at the forefront of our products.

We take pride in the fact that all of our flavors are:

  • Free from the top 9 allergens (wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, shellfish and sesame)
  • Free from artificial fillers, additives, or hidden ingredients
  • Free from artificial nitrates or nitrites
  • Made with high quality proteins produced by farmers who practice natural regenerative agriculture methods such as rotational grazing for farmed animals.

Our nine flavors include: Original Beef, Jalapeno Beef, Italian Style Beef, Sea Salt Beef, Cranberry Habanero Beef, Original Turkey, Jalapeno Turkey, Salt and Pepper Venison, and Pepperoni Turkey.

We want to make sure we’re always making a positive environmental impact, caring about animal welfare and keeping our standards high when it comes to nutrition .

We use three different proteins including Beef, Turkey and Venison. Each has a different nutritional breakdown and sourcing background.

Our sourcing practices by Chomps

Beef

Chomps beef is farmed in Tasmania, sourced from a network of farmers called Cape Grim Beef. With a great climate, access to the outdoors for cows to graze, and land that is deep Ferrosols, or red volcanic soil, the animals eat healthy “live” grass that contribute to the tenderness of the meat. Cape Grim’s meat processing facility is in Greenham with export accredited facilities located in Tongala (northern Victoria), Smithton (Tasmania’s pristine north-west) and Moe (in the heart of Gippsland).

Greenham utilizes bioenergy through using wood chip biofuel to power their boiler, which produces steam to power the Smithton Plant in Tasmania. This steam production meets about 70% of total plant energy needs, and is essential for sterilization, cleaning, and powering the rendering cookers daily.

Additionally, the Tongala co-generation plant in Northern Victoria delivers power and hot water through generating electricity from natural gas and biogas from settling ponds, helping to reduce emissions by 15,000T/year (equivalent to taking 3,000 cars off the road each year).

Overall, wood chip biofuel decreases greenhouse gas emissions, reduces truck transport distance and is aligned with Tasmania’s climate change strategy by reducing transport emissions and utilizing renewable sources of energy.

Turkey

Chomps turkey is sourced from two locations. Ourorganic and free-range turkey is derived from Mary's Turkeys of Pitman Farms in California, and our free-range, antibiotic free turkey comes from Ferndale Market in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.

Mary’s Turkeys implements a controlled atmosphere stunning system (CAS) to ensure an animal-centered environment, as consumer interest in animal welfare rises in tandem with the demand for high-quality meat. The CAS modifies the atmosphere to induce euthanasia conditions for animals. This technology provides a less stressful experience, contributing to improved animal welfare, better processing conditions and higher quality meat.

Free to roam the pastures and harvested in the most humane way possible, Chomps turkey is:

  • Free Range
  • Pasture Raised
  • Antibiotic Free
  • Whole30 Approved
  • Keto Certified
  • Certified Gluten-Free
  • Certified Paleo
  • Non-GMO Project Verified

Venison

Chomps venison is Duncan Venison that is farmed in New Zealand. The Duncan family is New Zealand’s leading specialized venison processor, and has a long history and reputation for their quality and integrity.

Duncan Venison’s clean air and consistent water supply enables growth of rich, green pastures all year round. Deer are able to graze freely on these lush pastures, with access to nutritional feed crops such as brassicas and beets during the winter months.

The abundance of feed and grazing territory means Duncan Venison's deer enjoy a life free from stress and confinement, promoting sustainable farming and better animal welfare. The result is delicious, tender venison of the finest quality, with rich flavors and a delicate texture. Free range venison offers outstanding nutritional value with more protein and less fat than other red meats, along with an abundance of healthy vitamins and minerals.

Never sent to feedlots, never given antibiotics or growth hormones and harvested in the most humane way possible, Chomps venison is:

  • 100% Grass-Fed AND Finished
  • Whole30 Approved
  • Keto Certified
  • Certified Gluten-Free
  • Certified Paleo
  • Non-GMO Project Verified
