On The Go Breakfast Ideas

By Melanie Saunders on Jan 21, 2022

Breakfast is a meal that is often forgotten due to busy schedules and trying to get out the door in the morning. However, fitting breakfast into your daily routine is helpful in promoting a well-rounded diet.

Learn why breakfast is so important and see on-the-go breakfast ideas perfect for even the most hectic mornings.

Why is breakfast important?

With so many tasks on your to do list, you may be wondering why you should prioritize eating breakfast every day. When you go to sleep at night (ideally for 8 hours), your body “fasts.” Then, when you eat breakfast the next morning, your body’s supply of glucose is restored, in addition to energy levels and increased alertness.

Breakfast also helps supply the essential nutrients your body needs to stay healthy! When you skip breakfast, it’s more difficult for your body to get the recommended daily amounts of fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

5 on-the-go breakfast ideas

There are breakfast recipes and products that are perfect for every type of diet and lifestyle. Many options are great for everyone from working parents getting children ready for school, to gym goers looking for a post-workout snack.

Whatever your schedule may look like, there’s an easy, portable breakfast idea for you!

Breakfast veggies

The good news is that the best vegetables aren’t just for lunch or dinner time … they can be used for breakfast, too! Getting a serving of vegetables during breakfast is a sneaky way to incorporate fiber and nutrients into your diet.

Starting your day off with a healthy veggie can also help you cut down on unwanted calories and cravings later on, because you’ve eaten a satisfying meal first thing in the morning. Popular breakfast veggies include hash brown potatoes, roasted peppers, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and more! They’re easy to batch cook on Sunday night and enjoy for the rest of the week.

Cut up your desired breakfast veggie and mix with olive oil and your favorite seasoning (we love Everything But The Bagel). Then, roast for 20 minutes in the oven at 400 degrees. Divide the cooked veggies out into portable tupperware containers to grab throughout the week–easy! You can also pair veggies with a portable egg cup like this one.

Good-for you meat sticks

For those who prefer to eat light in the morning, Chomps meat sticks are an excellent option!

Our Italian Style Beef Chomplings and Original Turkey Chomplings provide the same juicy, mouthwatering flavor as our full sized jerky sticks, but in a mini size! Not to mention great taste and texture, plus a low calorie count. Try pairing Chomplings with a piece of fruit, like an apple or banana, for a truly well-rounded breakfast.

Oatmeal with Strawberry and Banana

Single serving oatmeal cup

Perfect for cold mornings, oatmeal can be made sweet or savory and is oh-so-comforting! There are many single serve oatmeal options you can grab on your way out the door, and we love RXBAR’s oatmeal cups because they focus on simple, wholesome ingredients (just like us!)

If you’re not sure which flavor is for you, try the oats variety pack, which features delicious flavors like maple, apple cinnamon, chocolate, and vanilla almond.

If you’re craving an extra kick of flavor, include a topping. If you’re on the go, most toppings can be stored in a small ziploc bag and sprinkled on top of the oatmeal once it’s cooked. A few topping options are blueberries, coconut flakes, a poached egg, or chia seeds.

Breakfast protein bar

If you want to make sure your breakfast protein bar includes only wholesome ingredients, it’s easy to make them from scratch in your own kitchen! This 5 ingredient protein bar recipe doesn't even need to be baked and consists of whole rolled oats, whey protein powder, peanut butter, dried blueberries, and maple syrup.

If you’re stretched for time and can’t make your own breakfast protein bars, don’t worry! There are packaged protein bars options that are delicious but don’t compromise on your health goals.

If you prefer a sweet breakfast, one of our favorite protein bars is the Perfect Bar, which is an ideal meal replacement due to its ratio of fat to carbs to protein. Each Perfect Bar also includes 20 organic superfoods, making it a guilt-free breakfast option while satisfying sweet cravings.

Egg muffins

Make-ahead egg muffins

If you’re on the Whole30 diet, meal prep can be a key to success, especially when it comes to breakfast time. This make-ahead egg muffin recipe features our tasty Chomps Venison  sticks for a melt-in-your-mouth serving of protein, plus heart-healthy vegetables like onions, mushrooms, spinach, and garlic. Mix in a carton of eggs and you’ve got breakfast ready for the whole week.

If you want to spice up the muffins, try adding chopped chives on top before sticking them into the oven. Or, a pinch of paprika and a sprinkle of parsley.

Fruit and Granola Breakfast

Yes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but you don’t have to be intimidated by hours and hours of prep in the kitchen! The best healthy on-the-go breakfast ideas are simple, fast, AND healthy.

Too good to be true? No way! We hope this blog post has inspired you to incorporate a healthy breakfast into your daily meal routine.
